A tweet occurred. It asked: "Why are there almost no open source projects [in legaltech]?" The replies flooded in, duly recognizing Docassemble, QNAMarkup, Free Law Project, A2JAuthor, the Accord Project, the Jurism Project and a few others.
I know of many, many others at all stages of maturity and complexity. And there's a lot of exciting work happening in the world of open law and open legal data as well.
So the question is probably better phrased: "Why don't people know about all the open source projects in law-related tech?" Oh they're out there. You just have to look for them.
