Doing (small) things that anyone can do

Fitting in is the ultimate goal of a social being. We retain our sanity by going with the flow around us, sometimes against our own will, to be accepted by the collective around us.

There are always small stuff that anyone can do, but no one does it, and then everyone complains that no one is doing what anyone could have done. Denzel Washington from The Equalizer 2.

This quote rang a bell in me. I often see myself, and around me complain about things we can do, but won’t do. Eventually blaming the air, water flow, astrology, people, the government, the insect, but ourselves.

Schisms never were a bad thing. We need them to gain a better perspective on things, not to just sit morosely and babble about small stuff.

So, do the small things, pick up that piece of trash on the ground, even not yours, or at least, don’t throw your garbage on the ground because everyone is doing it, a human being will have to pick it up. Put the plates in the rack once you finish your set, that’s a sign for a healthy, selfless athlete.

Altruism, philanthropy can be found in these small things. It’s a beautiful thing, when we see beyond our ego and narcissism, to do something for the collective.
