Hello Actors!
Is this newsletter thing still on?! The last several months, I've been caught up in the world of teaching, applying to grad school, holidays, being a mom, etc. etc. Before I get into some updates, I want to extend my most sincere gratitude for all of you and how you've continued to impact my life & work over the last year. Last summer, I was a part of a life-changing production (Predictor) at Capital Stage and am so grateful to each & every one of you who came to support the show and the theatre. Thank you.
Thank you, also, to every actor who enrolled in my classes last year. I learned so much from you all. Teaching these acting classes has cemented my intention to pursue my MFA in Theatre Pedagogy, a venture I've just begun with much excitement (& nerves! SO MUCH READING).
This semester, I am taking a pedagogical course in which I get to create a new class. Rather than create some theoretical class I'll teach in ten years or never, I want to create something I can implement with you and for you in the near future. If you have the time, I'd love to get your feedback on what you, personally, would most want from an acting class with yours truly.
As I get my footing with grad school this semester, I will be taking a bit of time off of teaching. I fully intend to get back to teaching some time this year but want to make sure that I am prepared when I take that step. I'll also be co-directing a show at Sacramento City College this semester, so, to say I'll be busy for the next handful of months is... yeah, an understatement. :)
I'll be sure to update you all when I've got some classes on the docket. In the meantime, please check out these upcoming (soon) auditions at Celebration Arts!
All love & gratitude & deep breaths,
--Alissa
