This is a personal entry. I just returned from my friend’s wedding, and it was a truly beautiful and joyful event. Her older sister was wearing such an elegant dress that I couldn’t resist asking where she got it. Normally, I wouldn’t do this, but when I asked, she was warm and gracious. Then, unexpectedly, she asked for my number. It’s not typical to exchange numbers with our friends’ siblings, but it seemed natural in the moment.
She then asked if I was married, and I told her that I’m divorced. She inquired if I had children, and I mentioned that I have three. She smiled and said something interesting—that she could sense good things are on the horizon for me. She even predicted, with a hint of confidence, that marriage was in my near future. I laughed and asked how she could be so sure. She simply said she had a strong feeling about it.
It was all in good fun until she mentioned to another friend that I’m 41 and was divorced at 38. When my friend told me, I started doing the math. She was surprisingly close—I'm actually 41 and eight months, nearly 42, and I was divorced at 37, which is just about five years ago, as she had guessed.
She advised me to stay happy and not to go out of my way looking for someone, reassuring me that the right person will find their way to me.
While I know what she said could be taken as a general observation or even something she learned from my friend, there was something about her demeanor that made me pause. She spoke with a quiet confidence, as though she truly believed what she was saying. When I asked how she knew, she told me she has a strong intuition.
Her words have stuck with me. While I’m not someone who usually puts much stock in predictions, I do believe in being open to possibilities. After all, it’s a wonderful thing to love and be loved, to share your life with someone special. So, I’m embracing her words with an open heart, ready for whatever may come my way.
