Setting the tone of 2022

Circle of competence
https://fs.blog/2013/12/mental-model-circle-of-competence/

As a new year brings, I want to take this opportunity to define my circle of competence. The area I've been developing myself is entrepreneurship and scientific thinking. Since I have graduated from UC San Diego in 2017, I've been involved in the game of entrepreneurship ever since. I've both worked in a start-up and built a start-up. For the post four years, I have spent the first half learning and absorbing business knowledge my working in a fast growing start-up. I have spent the second half getting my hands dirty to try and build my own venture. I'm confident to say I'm respectful in terms of the tools and forms an early stage start-up should take. It's vastly different from the mega sized cooperate which is characterized by its hierarchy. I have a deep tool box of software that I have actually tried and implemented for my early team to use. I even jumped between software to compare them side by side. This is why it becomes a second nature for me to find the right tool for start-up at different stages.

Since 2013 when I have started studying biology and chemistry as a freshman in the university, I have been learning science and doing shelve. Because of the engaging and inspiring way of tweaking in the US, the knowledge I have gained never fades away. In fact, the scientific thinking this training has given me proves to be invaluable when I write business documents, which require crystal clear writings with no ambiguous stances.

Moreover, I have taught over two thousands hours of one to one tutoring on A level science subjects with local high school students in Macau. This tutoring experience pushes me to think further about science and refreshes my knowledge bank too.

These two pillars are the verticals that I have spent my previous years in developing. I have not moved to other horizontals such as art, designs, and humanity, and that's totally fine. I'm happy to be able to define the boundary of my circle of competence, and I'm willing to expand it one step at a time in this new year.
