As I reflect on the past year, I can hardly believe how far I've come. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, and every day has been a battle. But through it all, I've discovered something truly remarkable.
It all started on a Monday morning last year on 21st Feb. I was on my way back home from meeting someone over coffee when tragedy struck. A parked car opened its door without warning, sending me flying off my bicycle. I hit the ground hard, and my helmet cracked. The next thing I knew, I was in an ambulance on my way to St. Mary's Hospital.
The doctors gave me a grim prognosis. Statistically, 89% of people with my injuries die, and only 4% make any kind of recovery. I was lucky to be alive, but I was in a coma, and the outlook was bleak.
But somehow, against all odds, I survived. It wasn't easy, though. The injuries to my brain were severe, and I had to undergo extensive physical and neurological rehabilitation. I struggled to regain my sense of self, and I felt like I had lost so much of who I was.
My brain was different now. The creative part that allowed me to write poetry was damaged, and I couldn't listen to the music I used to love. I suffered from neurological fatigue, memory loss, and attention deficits. I felt like I was living in a completely different world.
But then I discovered something that changed everything. I started to explore the power of sound and vibration. I found that certain sounds helped to calm my brain, and I started to listen to the gentle sound of rain to bring me peace.
And then, in Bali, I experienced something truly magical. I was standing in the middle of a rainforest, and it started to rain. The sound of the gentle, caressing tropical rain was like music to my ears. It was a moment of pure joy, and it made me realize that there was still so much beauty in the world.
Since then, I've been on a journey of self-discovery, exploring the power of meditation and shamanic journeying. I've consulted mystics and channel readers, and I've come to believe that there is something deeper that connects us all.
As I approach the one-year anniversary of my accident, I'm filled with gratitude for the journey that brought me here. It hasn't been easy, but I'm stronger for it. I've learned that even in the darkest of times, there is still hope, and there is still beauty in the world.
