Post Ramadan Blues

If you are like me, my Quran reading drops significantly post Ramadan. Of course, we are not expected to connect on the same intensity after the blessed month; we should not forget the Quran altogether.

At the very least, let’s aim to do another khatm of the Quran before next Ramadan. It’s not that hard, really. There are 604 pages in the mushaf, and there are about 300+ days before next Ramadan. So all you need to do is two pages per day. One page has fifteen lines, so that is just thirty lines per day. Even if you are not a proficient reader, it will take you less than thirty minutes to do that.

Now that we have reduced the amount we read per day, take half an hour a day to read the meaning of the two pages that you read daily. If you read English, and I trust you do since you are reading this, you are spoilt for choices when it comes to good translations. You have M.A.S Abdel Haleem’s, the Clear Quran, and if you are a bit more adventurous, try the Study Quran by Prof Seyyed Hossein Nasr and his team. All these are available on paperback as well as digital (Kindle).

Now, go get started with your two pages today.
