Coming into 2023 marks 10 years of me not being a social media junkie like practically everyone in the world.
I don’t have a personal Facebook account, Instagram account and never have I ever downloaded anything else that came after.
I’m telling a slight white lie though... although not a regular user, I’ve had some interactions with social media platforms during this time.

I’m telling a slight white lie though... although not a regular user, I’ve had some interactions with social media platforms during this time.
- I had to create a Facebook account for work to interact on company pages.
- I was on Twitter a short time to follow certain world events but soon deleted the profile.
- I do have a LinkedIn profile but check it maybe once a month as it’s more of a business profile in case I need it for work related opportunities.
- One platform I do use regularly is YouTube. Although it’s labeled a social media platform, I think it depends on how you use it. I don’t use it to mindlessly scroll through videos but to watch content I enjoy. Similar to the podcasts I listen to or watching something on Netflix.
To me, the above examples aren’t even close to a habitual social media junkie.
Do I regret my decision? Nope!
Did I miss things? Yep!
Is that ok? Of course.
If there’s anything about someone or something in the world I need to know about, someone tells me. If no one tells me, it probably wasn’t really that big of a deal.
I have nothing against social media platforms or those who use it. It’s just not for me.
