I've talked to close to 30 salespeople over the last few months as I've searched for some tooling for 2023.
- 10% were really good
- 20% were really bad
- everyone else were pretty (less than) average salespeople
And I'm talking to some big billion-dollar tech companies.
Why do I care? Because if I can't effectively communicate my needs and have a salesperson do their job properly, I might miss out on a tool that I otherwise would have benefited from greatly.
Maybe they are doing me a favor? If their salespeople are terrible, maybe their tool and support team will result in a similar experience? Hard to know.

At the end of the day it's sad and companies have lost me as a potential customer purely because the salesperson really sucked.
NPS for salespeople
I'd love to see companies sending out anonymous NPS questionnaires relating to their salespeople.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your salesperson?"
Rather than looking at a salesperson's sales figures over some time, why not catch straggling salespeople before they lose too many sales?
