I got a week's worth of coding done in a morning. Not average coding either, proper coding. And a few days later I had a website designed in an hour and live in two.

If you're starting a business or building something in 2026, you need to hear this.

I used to run a web design company back in the early 2000s, and the amount of time, effort, and money spent to build those websites was insane. Whereas now I can pump out a high-quality website in a matter of hours, if not sooner. If I want to add some cool animation or a checkout or some crazy feature to the website, it's a prompt away. I can host it for free. It doesn't even cost me anything to host.

I'm building software right now and I don't need a designer. I don't need a programmer. I don't need a marketing person. I need me, and Claude, and a bit of patience to learn how to ask for what I actually want. That's it. Everything that used to take a team and a few weeks, I can get done in a fraction of the time, on my own.

My wife is working on a new business venture at the moment, and the amount she's able to put out is incredible. Stuff that would've taken her days is happening in hours. Not because she's cutting corners, but because she's got a tool that can move as fast as she can think.

Now yes, AI can produce a tonne of slop. I'm not pretending otherwise. But if you know how to ask the right questions, and you massage what comes back, and you actually learn how to work with it, it's not just faster. It's better. That's the bit people miss when they write it off after one bad prompt.

I've stopped using dedicated AI video tools altogether. I'm editing videos and cutting reels straight in Claude. No separate app, no separate subscription, no separate thing to learn. It just does it.

And it's not only business. I've been using it for a bunch of personal things too. It helped me think through some decisions around investments we have. It's not perfect, and I've caught it get things wrong, so you still go back and check its work and make sure you're feeding it the right information to begin with. But even with that, it's still incredible what it can do.

Unless you're using AI properly, it's probably hard to see how much value it brings. But as someone who built a company 20 years ago, the amount of time, effort, money, blood, sweat, and tears I put into building that business, and how easy it is to build a business today, how easy it is to build software, how easy it is to put together anything, it's just insane. It blows my mind every day, and I'm so thankful to be alive.

So if you're sitting on an idea, or you've been putting off starting something because you don't have a designer or a developer or a marketer on hand, I'd encourage you to just start. Open something like Claude that's installed locally on your computer and can do real work and ask it to help you build the thing. You'll be amazed how far you get before lunch.
