Dependable and mehpendable

A woman was trying to travel to see her family. One son, a flight attendant, could get her a cheap flight on his airline. He delayed until the last minute when he booked a flight with few open seats.

Because of the nature of the ticket (called "flying standby"), the woman showed up to the airport... and couldn’t get on her flight. It was full and her ticket only let her get on the plane if there were open seats.

She was stuck. Did she call someone in her town to drive for hours and pick her up? Should she spend the entire day in a hotel and try again tomorrow? Everything was uncertain.

She called another son, a different one. He was calm, cool. He bought his mother a flight that left in a few hours (not one on reserve). But this flight was going to a dangerous city and landing at night.

This son traveled 4 hours to meet his mother at the airport, paid for a hotel room for the night, and he and his mother traveled home the next day.

Some people are dependable. They make decisions, get things done, and are cool under pressure.

Others are mehpendable. They’re floaty, absorbed in their own world and fantasies.

The problem is that mehpendables are so dang fun. They’re light, filled with laughter, easy to have as friends. They make your day brighter, or laugh at your poop jokes, or have a sassy flair. They hide their flakiness with fun.

You can tell the difference with the follow through. Has someone achieved what they wanted in life? Have they made their mountainous goals seem like mole hills?

Dependable people are there even when they need themselves. They do what they say they'll do even when talking to themselves. They follow through until the job is finished.

Mehpendables bounce from one thing to another. They care about others, just not for long. Their only constant is love of self

The mother's love blinded her from seeing which son was which. This hurt her time and time again
