"Will AI replace programmers?"

The CEO of Nvidia famously said that AI will eliminate the need for people to learn programming. But as a recent blog post at toddle calls out, not exactly.

The predictive model of current gen LLMs means that while it cannot solve novel problems, it can generate massive amounts of repeatable code, given the right instructions.

It's easy to predict that application development will be heavily impacted by AI code generation. But maybe that is a good thing because it will free up software engineers and computer scientists to focus on solving the hard problems of technology.

The blog post is worth a look, and keep in mind toddle specializes in no-code platform aimed at professional and non-technical users. So, from their perspective AI isn't a code generating panacea.
