Derpy dog weekly update from sabbatical

I'm currently not working for a company, doing the thing I've done for the last 10+ years. I have a big life thing underway, and the best thing for my family right now is for me to not be tied down with a job.

So, that means I'm having to structure my days a bit different, and have routines that keep my brain working and my sense of accomplishment fed. This is the first go at a habit I'm hoping the internet will hold me accountable to (quietly, because no-one reads HEY World). It's a "here's what we shipped this week" kinda update. I did this in a product role at a previous company, and it was good for me and good for those around me to see what we were working on. Here goes:

This week I:
  • Said goodbye to fiancee and stepson after an incredible 10 day trip to New Zealand (or was it 11 days? It's hard to know with travel that crosses the international date line). They've headed back to the east coast while I wait in NZ for some admin stuff to come through.
  • Got Openclaw up and running in a Docker container on my Digital Ocean droplet, without nuking the rest of the apps/tools I've set up on that VM.
  • Spent time with bro, parents, and grandparents. And had good beers with a long-time friend.

Next week I'll:
  • Make a roadmap/plan for how I'll experiment with AI in the coming weeks/months.
  • Make a plan for a creative way to codify and communicate the ways I think about work and product.
  • Get back into fitness after a tumultuous month.
  • Make contact with another long time friend for another round of good beers.

Some other things on the radar are:
  • Figuring out how tf people get married at courthouses in NJ, and finding a wedding band that weighs a ton/is fiancee-approved.
  • Doing some admin for my immigration lawyer.

That's it for now - see ya next week.
