Do more of what works

I recently downloaded and started using a new daily habit tracker, in order to remain accountable to some new habits, which I'm keen to form.

On Tuesday, when I started tracking my habits, I decide to set a daily task of sharing a wealth creation tip across my social media accounts.

My first post got a reasonable amount of engagement. My second post received less engagement. My third post has barely received any engagement at all.

Naturally this is a very small sample size but my key learning in all of this, is that by tracking my habits on a daily basis, I am more aware of what is working and what is not working.

When I start ticking of my habits tomorrow and I am prompted to share a wealth creation habit, I am going to think about things on a far deeper level.

Amongst other questions, I will ask myself:
  • Should I do this at all?
  • Is this a good habit, which I should persevere with?
  • Is this a bad habit, which I should kill immediately?
  • Is this a good idea, which has been badly executed?
  • Is there a different approach, which I can try, in order to attain better results?

In the interests of moving the needle on a daily basis and making 1% improvements in the key areas of my life and business, it makes sense to identify what is working well and double down on it.

Likewise, it makes sense to identify what is not working well and either ditch it or make the required changes.

So, at a higher level of abstraction, perhaps you, like me, could benefit from asking yourself the following questions, when you write your journal entry this evening:
  • Am I holding myself accountable to the daily habits, which are going to move the needle and propel me towards my desired outcomes?
  • Are there areas of my life or business, where I am stagnating or moving in the wrong direction?
  • Are there daily actions, which I am taking that need to be improved or removed from the mix?

To my mind, the most important thing here, is to have a deep awareness for your direction of travel, so you can course correct rapidly and avoid delays in arriving at your desired outcomes.
