I have just deactivated my personal and Stacked profiles on Threads, in favour of the premium version of X, which was formerly Twitter.
Having opted to create Threads profiles, when Twitter was engaged in a downward spiral and Meta introduced their shiny new equivalent, I was shocked to see how flagrantly they had ripped off their competitors product.
It felt like a move, which had come straight out of the Microsoft playbook, in the sense that it's easier to rip off other people's ideas, than to conceptualise, build and deploy an original idea. If you hadn't already guessed it, I'm an Apple guy!
With Elon Musk at the helm of X, I feel confident that the rate of innovation, having flatlined, will now be prolific.
Indeed, I'm already seeing signs of this, with the number of new features and platform improvements, which are being announced.
I'm a huge believer in continuous improvement and with X, it's great to see new life, being breathed into a company that had become stuck in the mud of mediocrity.
Musk has reportedly chopped the Twitter workforce down from approximately 8,000 employees to around 2,000 employees.
In doing so, you would instinctively think that the pace of innovation and product development would slow down, rather than speed up.
It just goes to show what can happen when apathy is allowed to set in.
When dealing with a broken culture, it's better to chop away the dead wood, stay lean and restart the engines.
I'm excited to see where this journey leads.
Given that we're talking about Elon Musk, it will probably be 'to infinity and beyond!'
