Thank You Brighton Ruby

Thank you Andy Croll and team for organising yet another awesome Ruby Conference in sunny Brighton.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

It was a welcomed opportunity to disconnect from my day-to-day work, dial back into the Ruby community and gain new perspectives on the future of Ruby and the Rails framework, which I use every day, most recently to create the Empowered Wealth platform.

It's hard to decide what I enjoyed more, the great line-up of presentations in the main auditorium or the diverse range of conversations in the main hall during the breaks.

My personal highlight from the day, was catching up with Simon Brook and Chris Oatley who I worked with back in 2016 when I landed my first job as a full stack Rails developer. I learned so much from these guys during those early months, cutting my teeth on real-world projects after graduating from an intensive coding bootcamp. These lessons continue to serve me every day, just as they have done every day for the past 10 years, when working in a number of different businesses and codebases. Forever grateful!

Awesome to hear about the great work that Amanda Perino is doing with the Rails Foundation, which will help to safeguard the future of a community that is so close to all our hearts. Thank you.

Whatever the AI revolution has in store for us, I know that being part of this community will help us all to move forward with greater confidence.

Roll on Ruby Conference 2026!
