2022 things πŸ’«

It's the instance in the Earth's orbit around the Sun when people start talking about reflections and NY's resolutions. I'm a big fan of such practices but not so much when it comes to these societal notions. What I mean is why should these occur at the end of year? I mean let's face it setting big goals at the start of the year are overly ambitious. Life is more entropic - things change - people change and goals change. Let alone reflections! Imagine if you had to genuinely reflect on a project or something more personal that took place in February! Yikes!! Monthly or weekly check-ins to revisit your goals and aspirations are more attainable and for sure a more pragmatic habit to develop.

So after the aforementioned, the thought that sprigs to mind is that I have a list of assorted things (couldn't find a more apropos word to the circumstances - β€˜memories’ wasn't fitting and β€˜reflections’, at least in my way, is wrong) that have helped me shape/describe my year. Reiterating this isn't a list of reflections as I don't want to go into the details of how/why/what ifs and whatnot. It's simply a list that I wanna share that captures the randomness of my year - and without a further ado here it goes:

  • Learnt to not engage with junk information, worthless dramas & personalities.Β
  • There are many great people around me to support me but no one will stand up and fight for me like myself. Find a passion, pursue it and chase what you deserve!Β
  • A pair of shoes (ON Cloudmonster) have made me run faster. The forward propulsion of the Cloudmonsters is amazing! 10/10 running shoes πŸ‘Ÿ.
  • Writing a cooking book takes time πŸ‘¨πŸΌβ€πŸ³.
  • Engaging in smaller tasks helps with achieving more.
  • I'm a bigger fan of the iPad than the MacBook Pro.
  • Nothing beats travelling and exploring new destinations (πŸ‘€ Singapore).
  • Running a marathon is a hell of a journey (pun intended) and I would do it over and over again!! πŸ₯‡
  • Listening to gut feelings makes the difference.
  • Reading these email newsletters has been my best way of consuming digital content:
  • I'm writing a lot here on world.hey.com/chriiis! But this is my favourite piece.
  • BUILD An Unorthodox Guide To Making Things Worth Making has been the most interesting book I've read in 2022.
  • I made 3 years at Ricardo and I'm enjoying working with great colleagues more than ever and doing more of the amazing work on fighting climate change.
  • ChatGPT made my jaw drop multiple times.

For 2023, I wish you lots of fun, exciting adventures, travels to places you have never been to before, inspiring conversations and that you learn something new every day!! May 2023 be the best and most enriching year!
