Last season, youth basketball was cancelled because of COVID. This season, we are back. Cooper and Alexa are both playing again. Cooper is on the 3rd grade boys team and Alexa is on the 5th grade girls team.

As I do with almost all sports the kids play, I've volunteered to coach. I really do enjoy coaching the kids. The biggest reason I like to coach is it's fun to spend time with my kids. I'm trying to set an example in everything I do. Another reason I coach is to make sure the kids are getting a positive message during practice and games. I've seen / heard some horror stories of terrible coaches. I'm trying to shield them from that as much as possible.

Both kids practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an hour. We've only had one practice so far. It went pretty well. Putting in the fundamentals as a base then we'll work up from there. I'm optimistic about the season and think for both teams.

Cooper's team has a handful of good players but no horrible players.

Alexa's team has a few players who I'm semi concerned about but I think we'll be able to find spots for them. I'm assuming every team will have a few pretty bad / disinterested players.
