Checking the surf at Pollacheeny Harbor where the east wind was offshore. It wasn't quite working though, I think it needed more swell and possibly a different angle.
Locals not impressed
Drove to the town of Bundoran in Donegal afterwards (about an hour NE) and ended up catching it really good. Probably the best surf day of the trip! Lots of high quality lefts.
There are a series of cool murals in Sligo town.
Strandhill, a village with a popular beach break. Shell's Cafe and the Strand bar are worth a stop.
Drove down to Westport one Wednesday to catch the session at the legendary Matt Molloy's. Got to have a few tunes with Matt's son, Peter Molloy who also plays the flute.
Also in county Mayo - Downpatrick Head. Site of a former church founded by St. Patrick (statue added recently, some time in the 90s)
Dún Briste sea stack (which translates to 'broken fort')
More epic scenery
WW2 lookout post
Some music at the Beach Bar one Saturday, a pub very close to where I was staying. Mostly songs and recitations, with the odd tune here and there.
