Since some big storms just came through Portugal, I've been inside mostly the last few days. Things kind of cleared up somewhat this morning, so I decided to go for a run. As I was leaving, I saw traffic was backed up on the main road through town. It looked like there was an accident. It turned out that someone was getting towed and the tow truck was blocking the road. As I got closer, I quickly realized that person was me!
I had parked blocking a driveway but didn't realize it, because there was a high gate there that blended in with the neighboring buildings. I had been booted in addition to the imminent tow. I got there just in time, and was able to get rid of both the boot and the tow guy. I had to pay the cops €60 for the boot removal and €92 for the parking fine. Not the worst thing ever - I'm glad I got there before getting towed! Apparently the rental car agency tried to call me, but I can't receive calls with the esim I'm using here. The cops were polite and efficient at any rate. Lesson learned.
