Cold brewed coffee

My recipe for great coffee.

Cold brewed coffee.

So why do this? Flavor, Flavor, Flavor. Very low acidity, almost no bitterness, and best of all it is just plain simple. One can make a lot of it at one time, so no waiting in the morning. Just heat and drink.

It all starts with good coffee beans. Don't scrimp on this. Good beans cost more money, but the difference in taste is vast. Buy from a local roster if you can, as time after roasting is very important. Do not grind or use beans roasted the same day. Best to use beans roasted 3-12 days ago. Please use a burr grinder if you can, this makes the ground coffee all the same size. Ground size matters. For my method you want a medium-coarse grind.

Type of roast is very subjective, this method will work for all roasts. Some like a lighter roast for a more subtle flavor. Some like a darker roast for the punch of the deeper notes. Try them all ! Also some bean varieties tend to be roasted for that particular bean, trust your roaster.

Now how to:

Get a large wide mouth one gallon jug.

Some kind of bag to put the ground coffee in.

I use this: Pure Joy Planet Living Food Bag Nut Milk

Grind 12 0z of coffee. Medium-Coarse. Put ground coffee in bag. Put bag in jug. Fill jug with cold filtered water. Let set in refrigerator 24 hours. In the sink remove bag from jug, and let hang over jug to drip into, get all that good coffee. Add cold filtered water back to the jug, to taste. (I like strong coffee so I only add about 2 cups).

Grab your favorite mug .... Fill. Heat in microwave

I have tried all other coffee making techniques. Pour over, Areopress, french press, espresso, percolator, vacuum, and many more.... Take it from me this is the absolute best coffee you have ever had !
