Review: Temporal on Audible+

This is the epitome of an audio movie.

The best sound design & post-production I’ve ever heard.

It’s a story about a future in which 21 people make it to Mars, only to find all of humanity “vanishes” many years later.

…but they don’t know why…

Fast-forward 1,000 years later… On Mars…

We’ve developed into a full civilization, albeit a very different one. Mothering is chosen by a council based on the quality of the child, there are many social strata, and the world is fractionalized by the lack of martian atmosphere.

Yet, it’s still a thriving world…

That is, until they start running out of resources…

They saw this coming, so they came up with a plan…

They send teams called “Temporal Crews” back in time, to specific odd occurrences, to find clues as to why “the vanishing” happened in the first place…

They hope to find the reason, and prevent the possibility of it happening again — should they come to Earth.

Because they need to.

They need the resources.

Mystery, drama, time travel, historical fiction elements — it really has everything a sci-fi nerd loves.

I particularly loved how they went back to real events to discuss how their story plays into them: the vanishing of flight MH370, the hijacking of the airliner by D.B. Cooper, the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Area 51, The Tunguska event, The Dyatlov Pass Incident, and more…

I loved seeing those, especially how they used real historical data like the writing found on the tree at Roanoke… but they explained it in the context of this mystery.

Having grown up on the Outer Banks, I LOVED seeing these references.

It’s a quick, easy, and must listen.

As a side note, Audible+ is only $8/month. And it’s better than Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, & all the others…

So, spend the money.

Enjoy the story.

Enrich your life.

Cheers
