Jackie (36) is “happy-like-a-Swede” working as the technical designer for knitwear brand James Street––but she doesn’t stop there. In addition to sewing and designing non-stop for her own online pattern store, Jaykaiy.com, Jackie has picked up baking and has added croissants and sourdough to her repertoire. She is grateful for the two new friends she made this year.
Dane (33) finished his year-long residency at RadioWest films having made a smattering of short films he is really proud of. Now, back in the big wide freelancing world, Dane is once again enjoying the hustle. He shot a documentary about the housing crisis in Hawaii, made a VR film about indigenous ecological wisdom in northern Mexico, and is working on several projects about the dying Great Salt Lake. Dane’s side hustle is teaching his iconic VR Cinema class in the evenings at two different universities.
Alfa (8) traveled to Neptune and back just in time to start 2nd grade. She is deeply interested in chapter books, dragons, magic, and fairies (and unicorns too, of course). In between her Bluey binging, she has developed an affinity for Harry Potter and is making her way through the books and movies. With the winter season upon us, Alfa enjoys racing her Dad down the ski slopes. So far, she is undefeated.
Cruz (6) is finally old enough to realize that he doesn’t have to do everything his older sister says. Cruz’ personality is, as always, bright and spunky, yet still with a dramatic flare––as seen in this short video where he stars as a bird named “Puff Puff”. He started Kindergarten with enthusiasm. And with that love of learning came also an unbreakable obsession for all things transformers. Cruz skis well, but luckily, he still can’t beat his Dad in a race.
