I am inspired and I know why

I am inspired and I know why: Intentional Living.

There is a lot to Intentional living. Two things that have launched me on this fabulous ride:
  • Changing the Information I consume
  • Changing the food I consume

I have been caught up in a river of ideas lately. This feels familiar, however, those 'feels' are a distant memory. My younger self was so full of creative energy and ideas. I let the noise of life drown out my flames to sparks. Thankfully the sparks have reignited.

I am ultra inspired lately. I know exactly why and I will continue to treat myself this way. I made a decision to go on an Elimination Diet. An Information Elimination Diet, if you will, and it has lead me here.

I eliminated junky/bad/out of my control information and swapped it for life giving, inspired to ACTION, information. It is important also to keep this information in check. Consume a little, create a lot!

Stick with me, kid, we are gonna be OK.

I noticed a theme of my underlying mood.  I had been feeling anxious, unsettled, angry and depressed, for quite some time. This past year has been crazy for everyone. Despite all the chaos around us, my family has been incredibly blessed during these times.  I KNOW this in my soul. I mean we welcomed a little boy to our crew, February 2021. Amazing!

I should have a spirit of thankfulness, every day. My head started getting in the way because of what I was feeding it. My free time was filled with wasting thoughts and energy on things out of my control. When you consume this way, you want to take control. You can't. Sure there are things you can do to help your 'cause', but is that REALLY what you want to do? Is it REALLY your top priority?  I doubt it.

The moment of clarity did not hit me like a lightning strike. I was gradually noticing I was focused on the bad before the good. Immediately judging and being frustrated. This is not me I like. My optimism and joy were being snuffed out. The only person to blame was me. Yep, my choices got me here.

The slow burn of dissatisfaction came to a head and it was time to make a change. I was sick of myself. This is a great place to be. Once you realize you made the choice to be here, whether intentional or not, you now have to decide. Am I going to continue being a miserable frump, or am I ready for a change?

I chose to change. You have to change in your own time. My right time happened to be while vacationing in OBX. I was going to unplug immediately.  I did. For me this meant, leaving the phone in the bedroom of the beach house. Yes, iPad too. Oh and the Apple Watch. I remember the epiphany I had. Way too connected and connected to garbage information. Instant freedom vibes jolted through my body.  Within 24 hours, I could feel the change, for the better.

I am happy to say I have not worn the Apple Watch since and it is going on eBay. Lots of things are going on eBay, because we are learning that LIFE IS BETTER WITH LESS.

I was confident I could commit to being unplugged. At the beginning of July, my wife and I started to embrace the Keto Lifestyle. This decision was made due to health issues I was having. Remember that slow burn of getting sick of yourself?  By the time I decided to make lifestyle changes, the flames were so close, the nerve endings lost feeling! I do not recommend waiting this long.

We were two weeks into our habit changes when we went to the beach. We were both feeling so wonderful, so it was a breeze to stick with. If I could make such a drastic change and stick to it, unplugging would be a breeze. For the week of vacation, it was easy, living on normal time is a different story. I struggle but am more aware.

Living in a healthier body, with a clearer mind has been a game-changer. Here are some of the benefits I have experienced:

  • Feeling better in my own skin
  • Less anxious, more focused
  • Joyful and optimistic
  • Listening more/Being present
  • Creating more than consuming
  • Investing more than spending
  • Paying off debt instead of incurring
  • Minimizing our belongings (incredibly freeing)

I don't know where you are right now, but you should ask yourself the questions:

  • Am I living my best life or could it be better?
  • What does better look like to me?
  • Can I eliminate negative information?
  • What can I create?

My hope is you take action from inspiration. Inspiration without action is only an idea. The result is in the action.

Cheers.
