Back to School.
My kids and I have been anticipating this day. Overall Vibe: they are excited for the year. We are all praying and intending for this school year to be better than the shit show that was last year.
The school board reversed their 8-1 decision to keep masking voluntary. They held two additional meetings for us all to air our concerns so they could now vote 7-2 to mandate. #gotcowards?
I'll spare you my concerns. If you have been reading along, you know where I stand on the issue. I refuse to live in fear and give in to any anger brewing inside.
REMEMBER
This is a happy place for me. This blank screen waiting for me to fill it up with words. I love every second of it. I typically never know what I am going to write about. I have a few ideas in my notes, which I will refer to if I am at a stand-still. Most days, I sit down and start typing.
Start typing, the words will come.
Working From Home
I have been working from home (WFH) since 2012. I am on my nine-year anniversary! I just realized this (as I typed. See the words spill!) As poopy as the previous school year was, it was a dream to have my kids home with me the vast majority of school days. Having three different kids in three different grades, schooling at home, while I worked, was not without challenges. My wife, Katie, has been a Godsend helping with the kids and their schooling. Tip: Seek a strong companion for yourself, if you don't already have one!
Even if we were not interacting, knowing the kids were here with me provided peace and comfort. Keeping them socially distanced from fear-based living. We stuck together. We have only grown closer as a family unit. What more could I ask for?
The whole reason I do what I do is for my family. I am going to miss them while they are at school. I anticipate a quarantine or 10, which I will embrace instead of complaining. Scout's honor. You can help keep me honest. Social distancing from fear and negativity. Let's shake on it.
What's the plan
Since I just committed to myself and to you, I need a plan.
How am I going to nurture success?

How am I going to nurture success?
In no specific order:
- Wake up thankful
- Enjoy my morning coffee, while I feed my baby boy
- Music
- Eating to Live, not living to eat
- Exercise Daily
- Get outside Daily
Today started off just like this and it is perfect.
I woke at 5am, grabbed the little guy, started the brew and prepared his bottle. The big kids (grades 7,8,10) were up shortly after me. Each one of them coming down at their own pace. The excited, nervous smiles plastered across their beautiful faces. I am so proud of them. I have been teaching my kids how to care for themselves since they started being able to function. They get themselves up, they get themselves ready, come down stairs and always say "Good Morning". We have our typical morning small talk. Today was all excitement. They each prepared their own lunches and water bottles, then stuffed the nutrients in their backpacks.
It was time for the annual and cliche, First day of school photos. We have been using our front door as the backdrop for these photos every year. This year they all leave at the same time, 6:50AM. For outdoor photos at 6:30 in the morning, the available light isn't the best. I added some more available light via my flash and a little beauty dish.
Here they are:

Ah, just looking at these again. My heart is so full. I thank God daily for the blessings of all of my children. Not pictured are my oldest and my youngest. I also am the father of an Angel in Heaven, my daughter Jourdan.
I am Thankful.
To my children, you got this! I am beyond proud of each of you. You are all of great character. Your spirits are STRONG. This is so needed in this world. Go lead with your love and strength. -Love Dad
Back to school has always been an exciting day. Today is bitter sweet, because we have been at home together 90% of the time over 18 months. I will miss them, but I am excited to see them soar high!
To my friends reading, what are some things you do, to remain positive and moving forward in these times?
More to come.
