Dear Facebook, Google, and similar

Hello <Hiring Manager or Recruiter>,

I've appreciated the opportunity to interview with you in the past. While I appreciate your continuing interest and many follow ups, I have concerns about <company>.  In previous discussions, I have been open with my concerns. Here are my top three:

  1. Governing structure, values, and ethics. I am disappointed in <company> and its track record. Ethics should not be an afterthought of software development.
  2. Physical work environment. Open office arrangements are highly distracting and unproductive for me and millions of others.
  3. Your hiring process needs major reform. Your interviews are unnecessarily biased against people like me, i.e. of similar age and experience. Your interviews over-accentuate talking out loud while white-boarding at the expense of other qualities. This is self-defeating.

If you want to hire me as part of a team that is making changes in these areas, let's talk. Such teams would need support from the C-level and commit to sweeping structural changes.

Sincerely,
David
