Trump's impeachment may seem like a long time ago, but it wasn't! Do you remember the core argument from the House of Representatives?
Given these facts:
- Trump lied for months about election fraud
- Trump held a rally to oppose the elector certification
- Trump lied to and inflamed an armed crowd, saying 'you have to fight', among other things
- Trump made minimal efforts to halt and control the insurrection
Then, we conclude:
- Trump's behavior was seditious (defined as rebellious, mutinous, insurrectionist, etc).
- There must be consequences for anyone who acts like this, even more so for a President.
- Therefore, we must impeach and convict.
- And we must bar Trump from ever holding office again.
It is my view that we should set a standard, given the state of white supremacy, extremism, and disinformation in our country. We must protect our country against people that act like Trump. I don't have anything "personal" against Trump*. My opposition is based on his actions, for which *he* must be responsible.
In the meanwhile, let's see if Trump's legal troubles catch up with him.
* You may have heard about the so-called "Trump derangement syndrome". To state the obvious, opposing a deranged man does not make one deranged.
