Porous War and Proliferation of Data
Traditionally, war delineates a boundary between itself and non-combat zones, characterized by the chaotic military operations and traumatic casualties of the former, and the normalcy and stability of the latter. This demarcation is crucial, as the sustainability of conflict relies on the functioning of the civilian sphere, which not only supplies recruitment and logistical support but also mobilizes public backing and legitimizes the conflict. With the emergence of mass media technologies and their spread across battlefields, war becomes more accessible through newspaper dispatches, radio broadcasts from trenches, and television footage from patrol helicopters (Lasswell, 1971; Morrison, 1992).
