fascistic snow storm

Dear lovers of music, mystery, and meaning,

It has been a hard week.

In our house snow days bled into a sick day and then were punctuated by a power outage. Nothing has been normal on the home front, and the news out of Minnesota and elsewhere continues to be heartbreaking.

I have needed distraction this week, and maybe you do to.

🔊 As a way of grappling with the horror of the federal police I made a playlist which I'm calling fascistic snow storm (Spotify). The music is cold and elegiac.

📽️ I watched One Battle After Another which is very timely in unfortunate ways. I noticed and appreciated the music in the film which is by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead.

🎾 The tennis in Australia has been good.

🎹 I reunited with the Prelude and Fugue in D Major, Op. 93, by Aleksandr Glazunov. This piece captivates me, and I enjoy playing it as much as any piece I can think of. There are a number of recordings of this piece, including one on Iain Quinn's recording Tsar of Instruments (Spotify).

Until next week,
-David
