Find ideas and resources from B Corps to better support employees and navigate the ongoing waves of change.

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. employees say the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted them to reflect on their life’s purpose, and many are no longer willing to stay in unfulfilling jobs or work for employers that don’t treat employees, people, or the planet well. This growing movement — and the challenges of the last two years — have leaders in the Certified B Corporation community turning to their company’s mission and values as sources of stability and resilience for themselves and their stakeholders.

In the spirit of interdependence, this week’s articles from the B Corp community share ideas and resources to help businesses better support employees and navigate the ongoing waves of change.

Creating People-First Workplaces with Purpose

As more people seek work that aligns with their purpose and personal lives, more business leaders are taking notice and honing their company’s mission and values. B The Change reached out on the B Hive, an online platform for people in the B Corp community, to find examples of how B Corps are supporting employees and expanding, adjusting, and seeking input to create people-first workplaces with purpose.

Seeking Stability to Lead and Empower

Business leaders may be getting better at short-term adaptation in response to the never-ending waves of change over the last two years. Those who are still struggling can benefit from exploring how to find some stability by asking themselves three questions suggested by Katie Huey of B Corp Trebuchet Group.

Prioritizing Appreciation, Flexibility, and Well-Being

The Great Resignation makes having a strong, healthy work culture more important than ever. Businesses that focus on cultivating purpose and people-centered workplaces will be better positioned to thrive now and in the future. Rebecca Martin of Beehive Strategic Communication shares ways that the B Corp is putting people first and building a strong culture grounded in appreciation, flexibility and well-being.

As the world’s largest impact job site, B Work connects purpose-driven job seekers with positions at social enterprises that are using business as a force for good.

Leaning into the Hybrid Workplace

As the pandemic forced long-term office closures and social distancing requirements, B Corp Avenue shifted its team to remote work — and found the company could continue to thrive. Now, Founder and CEO Anna Madill says the future is hybrid, with a mix of online and in-person opportunities that provide flexibility and connections for workers.
