I've had Hey and a HEY World for a year and a half now, but am only just starting to write in it. Why? Not because I hadn't tried to start before, but because I was getting just enough creative outlet through other sources that with my limited time as a father of 2 very young boys, husband, bi-vocational pastor and English teacher...it just wasn't high enough on my priorities to give it the time.
But as I've continued to write for church and team communication, for organisational and system proposals, for messages and sermons at church, I've realised that I actually really like to write. I find written communication a joy. Being able to articulate what I want in a way that sounds like me, but is also clear and fits within the context of communication is really satisfying. I prefer it to verbal communication to be honest. And as I've been reading others who have been growing and committed to this form of writing - longer than a social media post or tweet, but short enough to be able to make a daily habit out of it, I've felt more and more the urge to actually make it a habit of my own so I can grow too, and so I can simply enjoy the outlet.
I could write more right now, but if I want to make this a writing journey of growth I know it's better for me to stop and save the thought for the next day. Gotta build the habit and muscles. But the truth is out - I like to write, and I want to write more.
