Back to New Zealand 🇳🇿

Hey everybody, thanks for all the responses to my last two posts. It was a hard few months (with some good times too) but we got through it together and appreciated all your kind words and thoughts. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives. We love hearing from you so thank you. ❤️

We planned out our travels for most of the year and I am sharing here to get any tips on things to do and see AND hope our paths might cross somewhere along the way. Please let us know if you will be in or near any of these places. We'd love to see you IRL. 🤓

  • January - mid April: New Zealand
  • Mid April to end of May: Australia (mostly Melbourne and Adelaide areas)
  • Early June: Southern California
  • Early to mid June: Boulder
  • Mid June: Hastings, Nebraska
  • Late June: Michigan
  • July - August: England
  • September: Santa Fe, New Mexico
  • October: France (southwest area)
  • Early Nov: Boulder
  • Mid November - Spring: Easter Island (maybe), Santiago, Chile, and New Zealand

Back to the current travels ....

We landed in Auckland early on January 12th and I got to enjoy my first flat white of the trip. ☕️

We flew to New Plymouth the same day. Cows (and sheep!) get oceanside property in New Zealand. 🐮

Our storage lock needed some attention and we were reunited with our sedan affectionately known as PAUPAU (license plate is PAU747). 🚗

We have a travel vase to go with our travel art (thanks Les!). We stayed in the CBD and had a view of the sea for the week. 📸

We were treated to a rare clear view of Mt Taranaki. Gorgeous! ⛰️

The Wind Wand (48 m / 157 ft) on the Coastal Walkway was looking as good as ever. Steve enjoyed the view. 😎

I also enjoyed the view with Mothers and Daughters. 📸

We had heard about the Festival of Lights many times but were never there at the right time. We made it this time so took a walk over to Pukekura park to see the sights. Scary sculpture in the pond! 🐙

The Glow Boats looked fun so we took one out for a spin (well, Steve did all the spinning). 🚣

The sculptures were very cool and even better as it got darker. The park was full of families enjoying the beautiful weather and sights. 📸

We enjoyed another trip on the Coastal Walkway down to the Te Rewa Rewa bridge. 🚲

Fresh fruit ice cream (thought of you Lori). 🍦

Trish treated us to tea again. So good to catch up with her and Barnes. 🫖

I always checked out the bulletin boards. The Tough Guy Book Club made me chuckle. 🪖

We rode down to the Bach on Breakwater for brunch with a view while we caught up with Steph and Paul. 🚲

A night out at Shining Peak (nice pour) before we headed northeast to Kinloch for a(nother) pet sit with Mac and Milla. 🍺

More about Kinloch next. 👋
