Edward Schlachter and Margaret Haley were married in 1958. 💒
Who knew they would create six remarkable and accomplished children, run a successful downtown pharmacy for 20+ years, contribute to their community, and expand their immediate family to 21 people?! I have been lucky to be part of it for the last 37 years. 🍀
Ed was hospitalized in late November and passed away on November 30th at the age of 89 (more info here). He and Margaret were together for 65 years and provided so much love to the entire Schlachter family. 💙 💜 💛
Steve and I were on our way to Boulder from Texas when we got the call. We adjusted our route to spend the last days with Ed, Margaret, and a few of the other siblings who could be there on short notice. It was tough but we supported each other and got through it together. 💪
The funeral service was on December 5th and the gathering which followed was both sad and joyful. Sad for our loss but joyful for the many happy memories with family and friends. Ed was a very special man and I am honored to be included in his family. He will be missed but will remain in our hearts always.
Some memorable moments over the years ...
Ed provided very funny anecdotes at our rehearsal dinner in 1987. Obviously, I was overcome with emotion. 🤪
He provided more at our 20th anniversary party.. 🥂
St Patrick's Day parade in Chicago.
There was always room for ice cream. 🍦
Cards were (not so) serious business. ♣️
We had the most fun at Tesuque Market and Shidoni in Santa Fe. 😀
Ed and Margaret were very welcome visitors to our homes over the years. 🏡
