Focus Post: Healesville Sanctuary

This is a focus post about the Healesville Sanctuary near Seville, Victoria. If that doesn't sound interesting, I would skip it. πŸ‘‹

We took a guided tour to learn more about their rehabilitation and conservation efforts. So many new friends to make! We became members and visited twice but there was still more to see. πŸ‘€

Hello ibis (aka bin chicken, like the term 'trash panda' in the US) πŸ‘‹

The emu markings were pretty cool. Did you know the males incubate the eggs? πŸ’«

Their double layer of feathers kept them very comfortable all year. πŸͺΆ

Lucked out to see the koala (aka tree wombat (aka ground koala)) awake and moving. We learned that koala meant 'no drink' since they don't drink much water and get most hydration from eucalyptus leaves. They were generally solitary and the only non-ape with fingerprints. 🐨

We had never heard of the 5550 km / 3400 mi Dingo Fence used to protect the sheep. πŸ‘
