One Night in Hahndorf

Forgot to send this one before the Adelaide posts - we stayed in Hahndorf on May 17th.

We arrived on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and could not believe how many people were there! Most of them were on their way home by 6pm so we had more of it to ourselves by the time we left on Monday. It was definitely a weekend getaway for many in the area.

Settled in 1839 by Prussian Lutherans seeking religious freedom, Hahndorf is now an artisan village and a delight for shoppers. Located just 25 minutes from Adelaide, Hahndorf is Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement and still has a strong German flavour most evident in the smallgoods outlets, bakeries, pubs, restaurants and cafes that line the bustling main street.

We visited the museum set in the Hahndorf Academy buildings.

This was an amusing update to an old photo. 🤭

Mathilde hated Thai food. She just wanted a pizza.

One of the museum staff was being celebrated. I had never seen a cake made of slices. 🎂
