Hey everybody π
We left Port Angeles on October 8th and drove south down the east side of Olympic National Park to Astoria Oregon. We had hoped to drive down the west side but there was a bridge out so maybe we will see the rainforest next time. π²
It was a beautiful day so we stopped at the Astoria Column first. The views were perfect.

Launching a balsa wood airplane from the top of the column is a tradition so Steve gave it a try. Many of them ended up on roof of a nearby building.π¨π»ββοΈ
Steve hiked down to the Cathedral Tree near the column. π₯Ύ
We left the next day and drove south along the picturesque Oregon coast. πΈ
Quick stop at Tillamook Creamery and, surprisingly, did not buy a kite. πͺ
We met up with our dear friends, Bob and Gina, at their vacation home in Lincoln City. The beach walks were great - tidepools, driftwood, and sunsets! π
We drove south together to check out Depoe Bay, which had the world's smallest navigable harbor (no photo). β΅οΈ
Bob was a skilled glassblower so we had fun looking around the local glass shop together. π₯
We had another beautiful day for a hike to Drift Creek Falls. Soooooo many trees! π₯Ύ
It was great fun to see Gina flying her new kite on another gorgeous day. βοΈ
Thanks for all the fun Bob and Gina - until next time! π
We drove south and saw a sad reminder to stay away from trees when flying. πͺ
We stopped to check out the Yaquina Head lighthouse which was made of 370k bricks and was opened in 1873. β―
So much natural beauty. π€©
We stopped in Newport where the hotel had nice views and a cozy spot for a cuppa. π«
We checked out the fishing boats and their neighbors (California sea lions). π¦
