Experience an unforgettable evening under the stars with award-winning astrophysicist and storyteller Krystal De Napoli as she guides you through the celestial knowledge of First Nations Australia — the world’s first astronomers.
I confess that I did not know that Australia had been inhabited for 65k years before colonization with over 250 different cultures across the vast continent. 🌠
The Emu in the Sky is a well-known Aboriginal constellation that’s outlined by dark areas of the night sky, not the stars. In almost all parts of Australia you will find emu, and the bird frequently features in the Creation stories held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and in their paintings and carvings.
The Southern Cross is just above the emu's head and I saw the bird every time I look at the Milky Way after this visit. Wow. 🤯
One more ride on the rail trail to a very nice lunch at the Home Hotel at Launching Place (named after the spot they dropped logs into the Yarra River to float the 54k / 36 mi to Melbourne).
Playtime with Che. We will miss her soooooo much. 😘
