We left London on the Eurostar train on Saturday, 8/3 to meet up with Steve's cousin Patty and her husband Davoud (they lived in Wiesbaden Germany). Saw some pretty English countryside before going through the 'chunnel'. 📸
The views in Belgium and the Netherlands were not too bad either. 👀
We arrived in Amsterdam and took a 30 minute train to Utrecht where we checked into our houseboat. The view was like a painting. 🖼️
Davoud and Steve enjoyed catching up on the floating deck. 😀
I always wondered where this was ... 🤔
We started our visit by walking along the Old Canal (Oudegracht). 🤩
I took a 10 second video (time-lapse) of the manual process to open the lock to take your boat through this canal. 🚤
Dogs got tired and we enjoyed a hidden playground. 😀
Hmmm, made in Illinois ... interesting .... 🤷♀️
Thanks to Cindy S for giving me euros from her last trip. I got a bike bell! 🔔
We visited the Rietveld Shroderhuis and were VERY impressed by this 100 year old beauty. We could just imagine the shock when it was built (see more traditional 100 year old homes right next door). 😳
We spent a few hours there and could not get over how livable the design would have been for us (with some updated materials). Never thought we would build a house but who knows?! 🙇♀️
The central library in a former post / telegraph building looked unassuming from the exterior ...
... but the interior! 🔥🔥🔥
Need to charge your phone? Start pedaling. 📲
There was always time for gelato. 🍧
My bucket list item was cycling around Utrecht and it made me so happy to do that. 🪣
Steve braved the pontoon paddle boat around our canal. ⚓️
Nibbles after a long day of seeing the sights. 🧀
It was a beautiful day to check out the botanic gardens. 😎
Four days went by so fast! ⚡️
We went to airport to catch a flight to Hamburg but first ... you had to get past the wall of waffles! 🧇
