Social Media - part 3
Yesterday I shared my concern that social media has had an overall negative impact on us as a society / culture. Particularly as it seems disrespectful and divisive online communication seems to be the norm and acceptable.
We don't seem to be willing or able to understand different perspectives - we are more inclined to viciously defend our position and denigrate those who disagree through name calling and threats. We are using a lot of energy arguing with strangers to what end? to what purpose or benefit?
I know the problem is bigger than what I can write here in several blog posts and my aim is not to do a deeper dive on the problem - I'm sure there are lots of smart people out there already doing this - I'm more interested in working out what we can do as individuals to raise our own standards - to increase our respect and show more kindness to each other.
More tomorrow :)
