Social media - part 1
I think social media has become one of the most destructive things in our world today. I really fear for our future if we can't work out how to do social media differently - in a more human way.
In its early days social media was great. It connected you to old friends who you otherwise wouldn't have. It helped keep us in better touch with family and friends who live interstate and overseas. It helps connect you with likeminded groups that you may not have had the opportunity to do before and it connects you to people that would have otherwise been mostly out of reach. I've loved that I have received direct replies to my tweets from authors of books that I've read and many more that I haven't mentioned. I'm even young enough to remember when Facebook didn't have any ads! Those were the days 😀
But in today's world, I think the costs of social media vastly outweigh their benefits.
