It’s a bittersweet farewell to Lewis Black as he embarks on his final tour. I feel fortunate to have secured a second-row seat for his performance in Orlando last night.
I’ve been a fan of his since his memorable cameos on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and I even had the pleasure of seeing him live in Bismarck, ND, a few years back.
At 76, I couldn’t help but notice he seems older than the last time I saw him on stage. He occasionally struggles with delivering his punchlines as he once did, and I do worry that some newcomers might find his material only moderately funny without understanding the depth of his legacy.
For me, his use of profanity has always felt authentic, lending a unique edge to his passionate cranky boomer rants that I’ve grown to love—and I will truly miss that.
I managed to sneak a quick pic before the theater staff noticed.
