Hiring Brazilians.

This year after the shock of COVID and restrictions of lockdown there were moments I couldn't see how my businesses would survive.  I am very relieved to report the future is looking bright for my social enterprise and coworking space, Impact Brixton.  Many people have supported this venture over the last few months, but I have to say one thing that surprises me is how many Brazilians we have hired.

The best frontend Javascript engineer we hired.....Brazillian.
I read a blog about a software developer who wasn't looking for a job but wanted to volunteer to do some programming for free - he wanted to improve his English whilst holidaying in London.  I contacted Bruno Tonero Romero to help me with ShoDeck, my software company, and we hit it off. It turns out Bruno is one of the most talented front end developers in the world. Bruno rewrote the entire application that took us a year to build to make it faster, easier to use and removed all the bugs.

The best builders we hired...Brazillian.
After months of searching, I discovered Eraldo and Jair, a double team who helped renovate about 3000 square footage of space. This duo are highly talented builders, carpenters, painters, and doing pretty much any handy work needed. This duo built us a new stair railing, new doors, new office, new disabled toilets, custom tables, new bar and painted the entire space to an excellent standard.  I can't recommend them enough.

The best cleaners we hired.... Brazilian
It turns out hard work runs in the family; we have now hired Luzia, Jair's wife, to do our weekly quality checks, plant maintenance and general cleaning of our 7000 square foot space. After working with about a dozen cleaners the last couple of years,  I can honestly say this is the highest level of cleaning I have seen.

The best gardener I know..... Brazillian
After months of searching for a reliable and knowledgeable Gardner, I have hired Lucas as my house gardener. In a day, he has transformed my garden. Young, hardworking and passionate about gardening, he is brilliant.

We finally found a plumber in Gutenberg, another Brazilian who has solved some technical plumbing problems we had. Pimlico plumbers and many other plumbers failed at the job.

I have hired eleven Brazilians this year, and they have all gone above and beyond and exceeded my expectation. Let me know if you want a referral to my Brazilian network.

Are all Brazilians this talented, or is this a brain drain from Brazil?  A wave of great Brazilian dreamers migrating to the UK?
