Givers and takers
When creating a community or a culture, generosity is one of the most important virtues. Without a giving culture, there is no community. Of course, all people give and take, but some are naturally takers, and others are natural givers.
Takers generally see what they get from the community as a whole, whereas givers get pleasure from giving to a community.
I always notice when natural givers become more like takers, it's a sign they feel an unfair exchange because there are more takers in the community. So people become less transparent, protective of even the most minor things.
When I notice this, I know it's time for extreme generosity and practising more abundant thinking. It's time for leaders in the community to ignore the takers and show radical generosity to the givers; it's time to protect our most important virtue, generosity. We all need our faith restored.
The fight with takers is not to become takers. It's time to give even more.
The world is abundant; the more we provide, the more we will all have.
