This week has felt incredibly unproductive for me. It's the end of the week, and It's the first time I am writing my "daily blog". I have had a few disagreements with colleagues that took it out on me, and I've not delivered most of my key results. Not a great week!
What's interesting is I'm not the only one in the office who is feeling this way. I wonder if there is something in the air, or am I bringing a bad unproductive vibe?
After getting home late, tired and miserable for the fourth night in a row, I decided to cancel the following day meetings and have a long ten-hour sleep. I woke up with new energy this morning... I looked at my garden and noticed for the first time that the spring season has started. Frogs were hopping, flowers blooming, and the trees and all starting their annual cycle. They are on their destiny, and natural path and are always perfectly productive. It reminded me of something I heard from a friend, "The Spring is a more natural beginning than January, which is in the middle of winter" Perhaps this has something to do with it?
Unfortunately, unlike nature, people like me can choose a different path at any time. This morning, what is clear is that something doesn't feel quite right, so I avoid the menial work, the day-to-day stuff. Instead, do anything but what's on the to-do list.
It's time to stop and review my plan. This is the time to check the strategy, ask why, and believe in the journey again.
Perhaps this is your inner intuition telling you to stop and make a new plan for anyone else feeling unproductive. It is not time to work; it's time to reflect.
I will relax today, have a cocktail, and hope that next week is more productive. I can, however, celebrate Kate Allen deciding to join Impact Brixton and taking on the responsibility of running all our social programmes.
Have a great weekend all. If you are also having an unproductive week and want to join me for a cocktail, send me an email.
