Having travelled a number of times over the last year including Myrtle Beach (SC), Australia, Washington (DC), Boston (MS), PEI, Halifax (NS) and Maine.
Spent 3 months living at the cottage during constriction in essentially what was a wooden tent.
Just returned from a few days in Halifax at a conference, and have a 2 week camping and overlanding trip around the coast of Newfoundland coming up in July.
Suffice to say I have been living a lot out of a duffle bag.
Here are a few things I have learned along the way.
- A solid large bag with strong straps (preferably backpack straps)
- A separate bag for laptop, electronics, medications, a lite replacement set of clothes.
- A separate toiletries bag, big enough to carry all the loose items, helps if it has a hook to hang at campground showers and hotel bathrooms.
- Packing cubes to keep shoes, underwear, socks, shirts all clumped together.
- A couple of pairs of adventure pants (with zip off legs to become shorts)
- A dress shirt made of polyester and spandex (no iron required)
- Light shirts
- Fleeces and a down sweater
- Light PJs (I normally sleep in my skivvies, however if you need to get out of bed in campground or in a room with others, you don't want to be putting on a pair of jeans and shirt)
- 2 pairs of shoes - 1 you wear and one in the bag (and perhaps light flip flops for showers, beach, etc.)
- DON'T OVERPACK - you always use less than you think, and if its missing you can likely purchase it along the way.
