Welded or Braided?

Most fly lines come with a factory welded loop. This is used for connecting a tapered leader to your fly line. I like to cut this loop off. And attach a braided loop to the end of the fly line. I find the braided loops to be more durable then the factory loop. On occasion, I've had the leader loop start to cut into the welded loop after some use.

Here is an informative video with, step by step instructions. On how to attach a braided loop to your fly line. Once attached you just need to do a loop to loop connection with a tapered leader. Tie on a fly to the end of the leader and start fly fishing.
