Identity Sculpting

We all aspire towards a certain version of ourselves, a future self that is an idealized projection of who we want to become.

Identity sculpting is the process of shaping this vision into reality. It is about:
  1. creating a clear definition of who you want to be
  2. and then taking steps to become that person.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Identity sculpting is not a one-time activity but a continuous process. It involves taking concrete steps each day to move closer to your ideal self. It requires commitment, persistence, and patience. But the journey is worth it. As you shape your identity, you not only transform yourself but also your life.

However, shaping an identity of who you want to become is challenging if you're unsure of what that identity should be.
  1. Who do you want to become?
  2. What behaviors and practices does that person do?

“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your identity. This is why habits are crucial. They cast repeated votes for being a certain type of person.”
-James Clear

Merely stating your identity isn't enough, because your brain demands more. To truly embrace your stated identity, you must continually support it with action.

MINE
  • I'm the type of person who builds businesses that build the kingdom
  • I'm the type of person who continuously dates my wife like when we first met
  • I'm the type of person who takes care of myself physically so I can take care of others
  • I'm the type of person who lives life knowing my children are my greatest legacy
  • I'm the type of person who loves Jesus more than my family.
  • I'm the type of person whose kids adore their parents.
  • I'm the type of person who is going to document his knowledge to pass it down to my kids.
  • I'm the type of person who is a moment-maker. A facilitator of fun.
  • I'm the type of person who, along with my family, pursues a shared family mission.

Now, I just gotta prove it.
