LIVING IN RADICAL ALIGNMENT
Second Mountain Living is a call to action for those who want a deep and meaningful life. It's a decision of surrendering to live out your purpose-driven life under the Lord's guidance. This lifestyle is so unconventional and counter-cultural that a robust system is needed to help you live in radical alignment with your guiding principles.
This system consists of Four Phases containing a total Nine Tools inside.
Here are the nine tools:
PHASE 1. CLARITY
A PROBLEM WORTH SOLVING: Before describing a solution, it's essential to clearly define the problem. This will help to ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of what the issue is, it allows for the identification of the root cause of the problem, and it can help in the development of a more effective solution. Additionally, it prevents the common mistake of jumping to solutions without fully understanding the problem, which can lead to ineffective or inefficient results.
MY SECOND MOUNTAIN CLIMB: For things to change, somebody somewhere has to start acting differently. Knowing what is right is not a substitute for doing what is right. Change is easier when you know where you’re going and why it’s worth it. Clarity dissolves resistance.
IDENTITY SCULPTING: Identity sculpting is not a one-time activity but a continuous process. It involves taking concrete steps each day to move closer to your ideal self. It requires commitment, persistence, and patience. But the journey is worth it. As you shape your identity, you not only transform yourself but also your life. Why? Because the more pride you have in a particular aspect of your identity, the more likely you'll be to keep up the habits that go with it.
PHASE 2. CONTEXT
IMPLEMENTATION LOOPHOLES: When attempting to build or break a habit, you will face the daily decision of whether to stick to your commitment. You'll either execute or make excuses. The good news is that typically, individuals tend to make only seven different types of excuses, which I refer to as loopholes.
CONFIDENCE - COMPETENCE LOOP: The more competent you get the more confident you’ll feel. The more confident you feel the more likely you’ll be to take on harder challenges, which will in turn, make you more competent. The cycle continues to feed each other. Most people acquire most of their knowledge, skill and experience by accident. They wander from interest to interest and develop a mixed bag of skillsets. We must become more diligent about our learning journey - to acquire skill more purposefully.
MY GROWTH TEAM: Please don’t self-execute. You can’t do it all your own. Leaders who have a growth team grow faster and more consistently than those who don’t. Why is this? High performers often feel more motivated to excel when they sense a responsibility towards someone or something beyond themselves.
PHASE 3. CLEARANCE
CREATING THE SPACE: No matter how pure your intentions are or how clear you feel, if you don't have enough bandwidth or space in your life to make a change, you won't be able to sustain it. You need sufficient room in your life to consistently implement changes. Reorganize your life to prioritize what matters most.
THE SLIDING SCALE OF DOABLE: Things don’t always go as planned. Life is unpredictable and there can be many reasons why you might not be able to stick to your habits like you planned for the day. What you need is a technique to keep your habits alive when your day doesn’t go as planned.
PHASE 4. CONSISTENCY
REWARDING RESULTS: Why is building consistency with positive habits so challenging? My guess, the behavior change you're trying to implement isn't enjoyable. A habit that isn't enjoyable isn't sustainable. Simple bits of reinforcement can offer the immediate pleasure you need to enjoy a habit. And change is easy when it is enjoyable.
