Everyone’s lives are driven by something
Most dictionaries define the verb drive as “to guide, to control, or to direct.” Whether you are driving a car, a nail, or a golf ball, you are guiding, controlling, and directing it at that moment.
What is the driving force of your life?
Right now you may be driven by a problem, a pressure, or a deadline. You may be driven by a painful memory, a haunting fear, or an unconscious belief. There are hundreds of circumstances, values, and emotions that can drive your life.
WHY IT MATTERS: When you’re designing the future, you’ve gotta be careful. Because The way that you define success will be like a magnet that pulls your life in a targeted direction..
- The way you invest your time
- The way you invest your money
- The way you invest your energy
... will all be in alignment with how you define success.
If success to you means getting more money… you’ll stick with the high paying job instead of the path you feel like you’re called to. If success to you means getting more power… it makes sense to tear people down to build yourself up. How you define success has a ripple of affect over every daydream, every idea, every criticism you make.
GO DEEPER: Everyone you know is in a constant game of trying to shape their life to align with their definition of success.
CONTENT + CONTEXT
"There’s only two things in this world: Content and Context. Content is the stuff we do, the things we say, the work we’re engaged in. Yet content has no meaning whatsoever without context. Context is the picture on the jigsaw puzzle box that shows us how to bring the pieces together -- the WHY."

When evaluating the content of our lives, we instinctively can determine if we're succeeding. How do we do this? We assess the impact of our current reality (content) on our ideal reality (context). Does today’s content bring us closer to our desired context? If so, things are going well; if not, they aren't.
WE’RE JUST TRYING TO CLOSE THE GAP

Life often feels like there's a gap between what you have and what you want.

There's where we're at, where we want to be, and then there's the gap we need to bridge.

The question is, how can we close the gap?
We can only close the gap when the content of our life matches the desired context of our life.
