TV reviews: Ted Lasso, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Star Trek Discovery, etc.
All snuggled up on the couch but fresh out of ideas on what to watch next? Here's a few suggestions: Ted Lasso: I had been putting this show off for quite some time simply because I don't really care for the actor playing the main character (Jason Sudeikis). But after reading many glowing reviews and recommendations decided to set my grievances aside. And I'm happy I did. Ted Lasso is a great comedy show with a big heart based on an American football coach taking on the manager duties of a Premier League football club. With zero experience but armed with a sunny disposition, he slowly starts to win over his critics. Really recommended!
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The second foray of Disney+ into Marvel TV series is much more in line with the Marvel movies. Well paced, with lots of action and the occasional gag, this is great all-round popcorn entertainment. Not much more to mention really, so dive in if you like a fun action packed series.
Star Trek Discovery: Confession upfront: I've never been a real fan of the Star Trek enterprise (see what I did there). However, somehow ended up watching this series but kind of liked it. The cast is well put together and visually it's all there. Of course, you have to at least enjoy this kind of sci-fi at the basic level. Worth a watch!
Formula 1 Drive to survive: This is the second series recapping a Formula 1 season. Yes, the series is very polished and well marketed but it totally works. Even while I knew the outcome, I still felt entertained by the set up of the series, the backstage insights and individual team bickering. Fun show!
Japan Sinks 2020: Great anime show, I've reviewed this show in another post so I won't waste too many words on this. If you can look past the crude animations, you'll find a great TV show, that is worth watching.
